I have an unbridled affection for the objects I create. What inspires me? Everyday things. Little things. Broken and forgotten things. Unwanted things. Objects keep an energy, they store a static memory. They are a tangible scrapbook of time and recollections. A path back to an earlier and easier place in your soul. My pieces start with a found object for a base, something I can build on. Then I add and add, connecting things to each other, making them a family. I feel that my pieces radiate a sort of silly joy; it’s almost as if you can see like a child again, a sadly lost process usually eroded by growing up. There’s a simple giggle and a lightness of vision awaiting those lucky ones who choose to keep their eyes open. We make the best of things that we find, what life tosses at us. Sometimes, if we’re lucky, we can turn it into art.
